Silvia Paparelli

Silvia Paparelli, pianist and musicologist, began her concert career at just fifteen years of age, and since then has performed regularly in Italy (the Concerti del Quirinale – broadcast live on European radio – Teatro Comunale e Amici della Musica di Modena, Associazione Scarlatti di Napoli, Bologna Festival, Ravello Festival, Festival di Nuova Consonanza Roma, Oberdan Musica Milano, Sagra Musicale Umbra, Festival di Parma, Festa Europea della Musica Roma, Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Società Barattelli L’Aquila), Europe (France, Germany, Spain, Hungary, Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Slovakia, Poland, Malta) and Asia. She completed her musical studies with full marks and also graduated with full marks and honours in the History of Music from the University of Perugia. She then specialised in the solo and chamber repertoire with maestros such as De Rosa, Canino and Damerini, in various Italian academies and at the Hochschule für Musik “Franz Liszt” in Weimar. She has paid particular attention to the modern and contemporary repertoire, often participating in world premieres (Boccadoro, Panni, Sbordoni, Dall’Ongaro, Betta, Bosco, Galante, Vacca, Pennisi, Donatoni, Castiglioni, Del Corno, Ambrosini, Bortolotti, Panfili, Vescovo, Del Monaco, Pedini, Borgioni, Coggiola, De Rossi Re, Ronchetti, Rotili, Martinotti, Gregoretti, D’Amico, Manfrin), commercial recordings and RAI. In June 2008, her project “Italiana”, an anthological récital through eras and genres of national piano production, was successfully presented at the Academy of Performing Arts in Hong Kong. As a soloist, she has performed under the direction of Maestros Weiser, Maestri, Bonucci, Boccadoro, Borgonovo, Martinotti, Lucci and Gatti, with Italian and international orchestras. She also performs intensive work as a substitute maestro, both in the traditional opera repertoire and in contemporary musical theatre, collaborating with prestigious institutions such as Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli, Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro Verdi di Salerno, Cantiere Internazionale di Montepulciano, Pergolesi Festival di Jesi, OperaInCanto Festival. As a musicologist, she is involved in conferences, participation in conventions and radio broadcasts (in Italy and France), seminars and publications, including a monograph on Stanislao Falchi published by LIM in Lucca. Since 2001, she has been professor of the History and Aesthetics of Music at the “G. Briccialdi” Institute for Musical Studies in Terni, where she also teaches the History of Lieder and Chamber Singing at the Biennio Sperimentale.
